Welcome to Dnookk. We are a peer-to-peer car-sharing marketplace that facilitates connections between vehicle owners (Hosts) and travelers (Guests).

Important Disclaimer of Liability:

Dnookk is a technology platform, not a rental car company or an insurance provider. Dnookk assumes no responsibility for, and shall not be liable for, any damages of any form—including but not limited to physical damage to the vehicle, mechanical failure, personal injury, or death—occurring to the Guest, passengers, or third parties during a reservation.

By using the platform, you acknowledge that the contract for the vehicle’s use and protection is strictly between the Host and the Guest.

  1. Mandatory Insurance Verification

To ensure a safe experience, dnookk requires a two-tiered verification process before any vehicle leaves the owner’s possession:

  • Owner Responsibility: Vehicle owners must ensure their vehicles are covered by a commercial or peer-to-peer-compliant Renters Insurance Policy. It is the Host’s duty to maintain valid registration and insurance that specifically allows for third-party rental usage.
  • Guest Responsibility: Before driving away, Guests must receive and verify physical or digital proof of insurance from the Owner. If an owner cannot provide valid insurance documentation at the time of pickup, do not proceed with the rental and contact dnookk support immediately.
  1. Physical Damage Coverage

Physical damage refers to any collision or comprehensive damage (theft, vandalism, fire, weather) to the Host’s vehicle.

  • Primary Responsibility: The Guest is contractually responsible for returning the vehicle in the same condition it was received.
  • Protection Tiers: Guests are encouraged to check if their personal auto insurance or credit card provider offers “Non-Owned Auto” coverage.
  • Damage Logs: Guests must take high-resolution photos of the vehicle’s interior and exterior (all four sides, tires, and glass) at the start and end of every trip to document pre-existing conditions.
  1. Third-Party & Auto Liability

Liability insurance protects you against claims made by others for bodily injury or property damage resulting from an accident you caused.

  • Minimum Financial Responsibility: It is the Host’s responsibility to provide insurance that meets the state’s minimum financial responsibility limits.
  • Indemnification: The Guest agrees to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless dnookk from any claims, losses, or expenses arising from the Guest’s operation of the vehicle.
  • Secondary Coverage: We recommend Guests carry their own active liability policy. In many jurisdictions, the Guest’s personal insurance may act as primary coverage, with the Host’s insurance acting as secondary.
  1. How Guests Can Protect Themselves

To minimize risk and ensure you are not held liable for damages you didn’t cause, follow these protocols:

  • The “Walk-Around” Rule: Never skip the pre-trip inspection. Note every scratch, dent, or upholstery stain in the dnookk app or via timestamped photos.
  • Check the “Rental Addendum”: Ask the owner for a copy of the specific insurance binder that covers “renters” or “permissive drivers.”
  • Verify Roadside Assistance: Confirm whether the Host’s insurance includes roadside assistance. dnookk does not provide towing or lockout services.
  • Personal Excess Liability: Consider an “umbrella” policy if you plan on renting high-value vehicles to ensure you are covered beyond the Host’s policy limits.
  1. Platform Indemnity & Release

By using dnookk, Guests and Hosts expressly waive any and all claims against dnookk for:

  1. Direct or Indirect Damages: Any loss of income, pain and suffering, or medical expenses.
  2. Insurance Disputes: Any failure of the Host’s insurance provider to pay out a claim.
  3. Vehicle Condition: Any hidden mechanical defects or safety recalls that the Host failed to address.

Final Notice: Driving a vehicle without verifying the owner’s insurance policy puts you at total financial risk for the full value of the vehicle and any third-party medical claims. Always verify before you drive.

Dnookk Community Responsibility & Protection Policy

This policy governs the relationship between dnookk (the “Platform”), Hosts (Property and Vehicle Owners), and Guests. dnookk operates as a marketplace to facilitate connections; however, the legal contract for stay or transport is strictly between the Host and the Guest.

  1. The dnookk Liability Shield

dnookk is a technology platform, not a service provider.

  • No Agency: dnookk does not own, manage, or insure the properties or vehicles listed.
  • Total Indemnity: dnookk is not responsible for damages, theft, personal injury, death, or any legal disputes arising from a booking.
  • No Warranty: We do not guarantee the accuracy of listings. Guests and Hosts interact at their own risk.
  1. Vehicle Owner (Host) Requirements

Car owners must treat their vehicle as a business asset.

  • Mandatory Renters Insurance: Hosts must maintain a policy that explicitly covers peer-to-peer rentals or “commercial use.” Standard personal policies often void coverage if a vehicle is rented for profit.
  • The Handover Rule: Hosts must provide physical or digital proof of insurance to the Guest at the time of key exchange. Failure to do so is grounds for immediate account suspension.
  • Maintenance: Vehicles must be in peak mechanical condition. Hosts are liable for any accidents caused by deferred maintenance (e.g., worn brakes, bald tires).
  1. Property Owner (Host) Requirements

Guesthouse, apartment, and hotel owners are responsible for the safety of the physical environment.

  • Safety Standards: Listings must meet local fire and safety codes, including working smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, and clear exit paths.
  • Accuracy: Photos must be current. Misrepresenting the location, amenities, or privacy level (e.g., “entire home” vs. “shared room”) is a violation of community trust.
  • Local Compliance: Hosts are responsible for paying local occupancy taxes and adhering to zoning laws or HOA rules.
  1. Guest Responsibilities & Protection

Guests are the temporary stewards of another person’s high-value asset.

For Car Rentals:

  • Insurance Verification: You must verify the Host’s insurance before driving away. If you drive without proof of coverage, you assume 100% financial liability for the vehicle and third-party claims.
  • The Documentation Mandate: Take timestamped photos of all four sides, tires, and glass at check-in and check-out. This is your only defense against false damage claims.
  • Auto Liability: Guests are encouraged to carry personal auto insurance that includes “Non-Owned Auto” coverage.

For Accommodations:

  • House Rules: Respect quiet hours, smoking bans, and pet policies. Any fines incurred by the Host due to Guest behavior will be billed to the Guest.
  • Reporting: If a property is unsafe or significantly different from the listing, you must report it to dnookk within 2 hours of check-in to be eligible for assistance.

  1. Safety & Conduct Standards

To maintain a secure marketplace, all members must adhere to:

  • Zero Tolerance: Any form of discrimination, harassment, or physical violence will result in a permanent ban.
  • Off-Platform Transactions: To protect your data and money, all payments and communications must happen through dnookk. We cannot protect or assist you if you pay a Host via cash, Venmo, or wire transfer.
  • Privacy: Hosts may never use cameras inside “private zones” (bedrooms/bathrooms). All exterior security cameras must be disclosed in the listing.

Final Acknowledgment: By using Dnookk, you agree that any legal recourse for damages will be sought against the counterparty (Host or Guest) and not against dnookk. We provide the marketplace; you provide the trust.

For Vehicle Guests & Hosts
  • The Insurance Verification Rule: Guests must never drive away without visually verifying the Host’s physical or digital insurance binder.

  • Timestamped Evidence: Guests are strictly required to take high-resolution photos of all four sides of the vehicle, the tires, and the glass at both check-in and check-out to protect against false damage claims.

  • Mechanical Integrity: Hosts are responsible for ensuring vehicles are in peak mechanical condition; Guests should perform a basic “walk-around” to check for worn brakes or bald tires before starting the trip.

  • The Handover Protocol: Hosts must provide the specific commercial or peer-to-peer insurance rider to the Guest during the key exchange.

For Accommodation Guests & Hosts
  • The 2-Hour Reporting Window: If a property is unsanitary or unsafe, Guests must report it to dnookk with photographic evidence within two hours of arrival.

  • Surveillance Disclosure: Hosts are prohibited from placing cameras in “private zones” like bedrooms or bathrooms; any exterior security cameras must be explicitly disclosed in the listing.

  • Safety Infrastructure: Properties should be checked for working smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, and clearly marked emergency exits.

  • House Rule Compliance: Guests should review and follow all specific quiet hours and occupancy limits to avoid municipal fines.

Platform-Wide Security
  • Off-Platform Transaction Ban: Never pay a Host via cash, Venmo, or wire transfer; all payments must stay within the dnookk platform to ensure you are covered by platform protections.

  • Communication Log: Keep all conversations inside the dnookk chat interface; this is the only record the platform will use in the event of a dispute.

  • Zero-Tolerance Conduct: Any form of harassment, discrimination, or violence between community members will result in a permanent ban from the platform.

  • Indemnification Awareness: Users should remember that dnookk is a technology connector and is not liable for personal injury or property damage.
